Eagles Renovation Project Awarded Funding from Regional Cities Initiative

The Eagles Theatre Renovation Project was awarded funding from the Regional Cities Initiative by the Northeast Indiana Regional Development Authority (RDA) on Tuesday, April 11. The RDA approved $976,635.66 to be used for a four-story renovation of the historic Eagles Building.

The Northeast Indiana RDA reviewed submissions from seven projects representing four counties as part of the state’s Regional Cities Initiative funding. The goal of the Regional Cities Initiative is to grow Northeast Indiana’s population to 1 million by 2031 through projects that attract talent and business opportunities, and stimulate overall economic growth.

“We are honored and grateful for the support received through the Regional Development Authority. Their vision for Northeast Indiana is exactly what our region needs for future growth and success.” said Tod Minnich, President and CEO at The Honeywell Foundation.

Plans for the Eagles Theatre Renovation Project include a second movie screen, expanded lobby, enhanced backstage area to allow for more live events, a restored fourth floor ballroom, and a partnership with Heartland Career Center that will launch a new multimedia arts program for regional students.

“Funding for the Eagles Theatre Renovation Project has been received through the Stellar Communities Designation, private donors, and now through Regional Cities,” said Cathy Gatchel, Vice President of Development and Marketing at The Honeywell Foundation. “These collective gifts are imperative to the project’s overall success. Further, these commitments demonstrate that many others are excited about the vision for a renovated Eagles.”

Renovations are scheduled to commence in later this year. For more information on the Eagles Theatre Renovation Project or to receive the latest project updates, please visit http://www.eaglestheatre.com/my-eagles.
